Social Geography
At Where 2.0, I met the lovely Tish Shute who interviews big names in and writes about the latest in location-based technology at UgoTrade.com. Tish is interested in joining on-grid technologists with off-grid communities to promote mutual awareness and trade and makes for fascinating reading. I was unable to attend WhereCamp, which immediately followed the Where 2.0 conference, but Tish was there and posted her findings from this more informal meeting.
… Anselm describes where he thinks the challenges are: “We should be mapping information that in some ways has been historically unmappable because it is 1) not valued or is 2) actively seen as threatening or is 3) simply too hard to map using traditional tools.”
There are also some good (and long) discussion and links on the benefits of reality mining vs. privacy concerns.

Geovisualization is the visual representation of the surface and inside of the earth, an inherently three-dimensional and evolving entity, to understand a geospace and how variables in that space change with time. In this post and some future ones, I will explore earth visualization methods and philosophies, and invite you to help extend this community’s capabilities.
