CyberLink Demonstrates Glasses-Free Auto-Stereo 3D

CyberLink is demonstrating the new PowerDVD at CES this week, with added support for 3D BluRay playback on Autostereoscopic devices.  In particular, they’re showing the 3DeeFlector with SpatialView, 215FS01 with CPT, and the SeeFront 3D Rig.   These are all “addon” devices that put a special screen in front of your usual screen, similar to the previously mentioned iPhone Wazabee case.

AMD readying a demo of the Blu-ray 3D standard

master_system_3d_glasses_md_440AMD and CyberLink are partnering up to present a live demonstration of “Blu-ray stereoscopic 3D”  at CES 2010, without waiting for any standard to be formalized first.

While the world continues to wait for an announcement on what the 3D Blu-ray standard will actually entail (backwards compatible 2D combo discs, and Full HD stereoscopic technology are definitely on the list) AMD is ready to leverage its position as a contributing member of the Blu-ray Disc Association and make sure that when discs hit the market — likely around the time Avatar is released at home — it has compatible software and hardware available.

CUDA Speeds Up Facial Recognition in MediaShow 5

nvidia-logo

CyberLink’s MediaShow photo management package has just released version 5 with a new popular feature, face detection.  Just like Apple’s iPhoto, it can now identify faces within photos to allow you to easily search for all photos containing a specific individual.  Unlike iPhoto, however, it uses NVidia’s CUDA technology to accelerate the process.

CyberLink MediaShow 5 searches and organizes your photo collection using a sophisticated face recognition algorithm. By utilizing co-processing – which leverages the massive parallel processing power of NVIDIA GeForce GPUs in tandem with the computer’s central processor (CPU) – CyberLink MediaShow 5 provides up to a 70%(1) improvement in application speed so you can find the photos you want faster.
