inconcert3d-dmbThe Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper, Relentless7, and Gogol Bordello all participated in a huge concerts across the US that were recorded by inconcert3D and will now be presented to the masses at theatres nationwide!

Shot in Digital 3D–which renders a cinema quality comparable to that found in this fall’s other big 3D releases (A Christmas Carol and Avatar)–the format essentially brings viewers onstage, giving them a stunning 360◦ view of each live performance. Filmed by inconcert3d at critically acclaimed music festivals this summer, the performances include Dave Matthews Band–the highest-grossing American act of all time–at the 2009 Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas, Grammy-award winning artist Ben Harper and Relentless7 at the Mile High Music Festival in Denver, and internationally acclaimed Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello at All Points West Music & Arts Festival in New Jersey.

It’s a limited run show, beginning this Friday (December 11th) and running through December 17th, and will never come to DVD (so they say), so if you want to see it you’ll have to go to the theaters.

mh-Rock and Roll Hall of FameThe opening graphics for HBO’s “25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert” later this week showcases work by Monkeyhead done with NetRender and MoGraph modules of MAXON’s Cinema4D.

“The functionality in the MoGraph module offers an incredibly dynamic range of tools to create motion graphics and advanced features like global illumination and caustics further allowed us to achieve the desired degree of realism. When we showed HBO the final spot they asked which images we created and which ones were pulled from existing sources because they couldn’t believe the photo-realistic quality we had accomplished,” added Sahley.

DaveMatthewBandInConcert3D, AEG Live, Action 3D Productions, and RealD have partnered up to bring the latest concert of the Dave Matthews Band nationwide in stereoscopic 3D using some new technology that brings the production costs down significantly.

“With the Dave Matthews [movie], the idea was to mimic a concert,” explains AEG Live’s John Rubey, who is executive producer and president of AEG’s Network LIVE. “The movie features Dave Matthews at the Austin City Limits festival, Ben Harper from the Mile High Music Festival and Gogo Bordello from the Pine Music Festival.”
