NVidia’s 100% Digital Booth, by Barco

Never tell NVidia that “you’ve done enough” it seems, as they keep pushing out new and creative ideas faster than I can keep up!  At SIGGRAPH this year, NVidia’s booth was “100% digital”, meaning there wasn’t a single printed banner or poster in the entire place.  Every flat display was either projected or an LCD panel, meaning every banner and poster would move and animate!  It added an interesting piece of eye-catching flair, and came in handy during demos and presentations as those “posters” became slide show notes.  Of course, NVidia has the hardware to drive the displays, but what about the displays themselves?  That’s where Barco comes in.

“NVIDIA and Barco both have an unwavering commitment to providing the best visualization technology,” said Jeff Brown, General Manager, Professional Solutions Group, NVIDIA. “When we began planning our exhibit for SIGGRAPH earlier this year, it was an easy choice to ask Barco to help us create a rich visual experience, with the brightest, sharpest HD resolution imagery possible.  Together, our technologies work hand-in-hand to produce a remarkable, immersive environment.”

Barco’s 46″ WXGA narrow-bezel LCD for video walls

barco_NSL-4601Barco, the popular high-end projector company, has announced a new 46″ LCD for video-display walls.  Sporting a surprisingly low WXGA (1366×768 px) resolution (although it claims 1080p support, presumably via rescaling) the real kicker on this display is the bezels:  varying from 2.4mm to 4.3mm .  The smallest bezels I’m aware of are half-inch (12.7mm), making these significantly smaller.
