Dear all - has anyone done or know of any study done on the increase in effectivenes on aspects such as decision making when converting the usual mass of data found in spreadsheets, etc. into a more visually appealing infographic. I know it is sorting stating the obvious, but was hoping to find some scientific research on this.

I am busy preparing for a study on information visualisation in our organisation as part of a M.Sc in Technology, Innovation and People management through systems thinking.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Kind regards
    Pieter

Do you mean things like this Case Study of Operational Issues Visualization, which compiled a 34-page visualization into a single page?

There's also a whitepaper from Centrifuge on Threat Finance & CyberSecurity Analysis.

Try just searching VizWorld for 'Case Study' as a start, I'm sure we've covered something useful in our 3500 posts :)

If you find anything good, be sure to come back and share with us!

Thanks for the response - definitively on the right track - I have also found the following article useful - "The Impact of Dimensionality and Color Coding of Information Visualizations on Knowledge Acquisition " - (http://www.cogsci.northwestern.edu/cogsci2004/papers/paper470.pdf)

Although still early in my research process - pointers to any tools/measurements utilised in these types of studies are of great help!

    Thanks again!
