I getting overwhelmed with technology. I used to think that having 3 remote controls on my coffee table was over the top. Now besides the tv, in what I consider the home entertainment area is: laptop, iphone, ipad, various remotes (plus universal remote that no one can seem to program), roku box and oh yes...before I forget, the TV....is this what's known as multimedia overload?

I want to build a workstation with 4 LCD displays (2x2 tiled) synchronised for 3D stereo. Running linux, and it will be an output for the NAMD program which uses OpenGL.

If we're looking at nVidia, it's definitely a Quadro solution we're looking at, not GeForce.

Questions: 1) is quad buffered stereo a necessity?
2) can this be done say on a 5000 series or does it require quadroplex and the 7000 cards? i'm getting conflicting info from different people.

What I'm really hoping to find is someone who does visualization work using OpenGL on any multi-monitor 3D display (even 2 screens would be of interest) and to know what your config is, precisely.

Thanks

Hi all,
recently I have placed a TV next to my PC to watch something when I am doing boring tasks that I can use as monitor by an HDMI cable.
When I use it as a monitor I can watch movies too, for example connecting to the RAI site that has a lot of recorded clip in streaming.
I have still a problem: when I open with explorer the RAI site (that uses silverlight) and I drag it to the 2° monitor (and keep firefox in the first monitor to navigate) and maximize the clip to full screen, when i go back to the first monitor and click somewhere the movie go back to a little dimension: in practice I can keep it at full screen only if I don't touch anything.
Does anyone know how can I fix this problem?
Thank you

Cinema 4D is a modeling, animation and rendering package of render farm. It is noted for its flexible interface and ease of use and it is capable of procedural and polygonal/subd modeling, animating, lighting, texturing and rendering.Module is the core application (for modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering), CINEMA 4D also has several available add-on programs (modules) that expand its capabilities. These programs include: Advanced Render (global illumination/HDRI, caustics, ambient occlusion and sky simulation),BodyPaint 3D (direct painting on UVW meshes),With CINEMA 4D R10 the module BodyPaint 3D became integrated in the basic package and BodyPaint 3D has been contributed in a stand-alone version to be used in non-c4d-pipelines..for more info google out renderrocket.

Actually, now that I see them - "I" would notice, but overall to be honest probably not. I think though, that they'd see more use if they were more relevant to a broader audience. Visualizing data is definitely important, and I find myself in a position that I have to generate some, yet because I'm not really good at math and determining proper formulas to effectively display relevant data to an audience, require some assistance with a pet project I'd like to get underway.

That said, perhaps if the forums were geared more towards the approachable aspects of visualizing data (discussing the do's and don'ts, proper data dissemination methods or the proper data sets, and a general help desk, etc) as well as things a bit more 'high end' such as technical aspects of software and hardware (which you have, but they're really tech oriented and there are a number of similar forums closer to the actual products specifically that get more use)... In other words, the forums seem too specific and geared towards a finite set applications. Open it up a little (just a suggestion)

Ruby is an interpreted scripting language that SketchUp can understand via its SketchUp Ruby application programming interface (API). It was first introduced in SketchUp Version 4 with the intention to quick and easy object-oriented programming.

With ruby script sketchup users can use to write plugins (scripts) for Google SketchUp and develop extra functionality by creating dozens of new tools & component generators for SketchUp beyond its built-in abilities in the Ruby programming language.

Ruby scripts can be any thing from short snippets of code to more elaborate tool development.

I know it is sorting stating the obvious, but was hoping to find some scientific research on this.

Sketchup is sketch-based 3D modeling program for the conceptual phases of design. With it's easy inteference One can create own 3D model easily and smoothly.

Sketchup is also very useful for creating 3D animation. SU Animate is an animation plug-in for Google SketchUp 6, 7 or 7.1. It creates creates animations inside SketchUp 6 or 7 Windows and the animation can be exported as video animation files or as series of image file (in the form of an Audio Video Interleave or AVI on Microsoft Windows and QuickTime on Mac OS X)

There are lots of website which offer free download for animation plugins. I am suggesting some websites and the links are given below for the help of users.

I learned on after effects, and found the same interface in several other programs. I tried flash for a month or so but it too 20 clicks to do something you could do in 5 in after effects. I found the language of the program so iterating. There is no "canvas", anyway I think they fixed the animation issues in the last version to be more like after effects.

Digital Fusion uses nodes I tried it for a while but went back to after effects. It seemed like a better way of doing things but I have not used it that much. I would like to use it more. At the time it was better than After effects as you could work in 3D space. After effects has caught up a little as it moves flat plains in 3D space not 3D objects. I think they added nodes too. I really should brush up on this stuff before commenting bit i noticed Digital Fusion was not on your list and should be.
