During the day, a visualization scientist working for a federal research lab, aiding researchers to discover the insights buried within their terabyte datasets generated on some of the most powerful supercomputers in the world.  Active in several open source & Web2.0 projects, he has prior experience as a “Jedi Knight” software developer for a biomedical robotics company and in developing immersive virtual environments for data exploration.  He has tracked the scientific visualization space since the days of the Voodoo cards & Riva128’s, and has been known to have a particular fondness for SGI O2’s.  But honestly, who doesn’t?

Hardware Expert. Paul Adams manages an award-winning team for a federal high performance computing facility where he has worked for 15 years. He loves getting his hands on the latest visualization and computer hardware and making it do things it was not meant to do, much to the chagrin of upper level management. His other interests include astronomy, aerospace engineering, working with the poor, and ringing cowbells.

Maitri Erwin is director of technology at a growing geospatial and engineering services firm, where her research focuses on the visual representation of a large spectrum of data types.  Previously, she was geologist, geophysicist and visualization evangelist at a large, multi-national oil & gas company. Maitri’s interests include science education, digital rights, languages, collecting rocks and American football.
