You might be considering what conference to attend, or what meetup, if you’re interested in technology, visualization or visually-focused businesses. The LDV Vision Summit has all of that and more: a chance to watch startups pitch, talks from the likes of Microsoft, Magic Leap, and (this year) Apple, on new tech coming down the road for better imaging and new technology. And, if you’re looking for work in visual or image-focused tech or looking for talent, there will be networking, networking, and more networking.

LDV Vision Summit from 2015 – panel discussion

This isn’t a TED environment, or SxSW, but it has elements of both in a much more compact (and in some ways) more robust approach to a Summit.

The summit is hosted by Evan Nisselson, partner of LDV Capital, a VC firm that specializes in identifying and investing in “visual technologies across the full tech stack for businesses or consumers.” At the Summit, you will find individuals from both the investment community and technologists involved with wearable cameras, anything with an imaging sensor, virtual reality, augmented reality, autonomous driving, auto-magic editing software, visual search, artificial intelligence, medical imaging, imaging enabled commerce, computer vision, content analytics, computational imaging, publishing, satellite imaging, distribution, robotic imaging and visual sharing.

I interviewed Evan last week to talk about summit. Without listing all of the interesting and engaging speakers, or the many startups that will be taking the stage to make their pitches, I thought it was more interesting to understand the ethos of the event. This is the third year of the Summit, and it has grown to a two-day affair, with a mix of talks, panel discussions, pitches and networking breaks that makes it different than the typical summit.
