GumGum, a digital marketing platform for the visual web, announced today the release of Mantii, a real-time social media listening tool that provides image recognition capabilities not available from other platforms. Built on GumGum’s proprietary image recognition and deep learning technology, Mantii alerts brands when and how consumers share images relevant to their brands.

“Social media listening is a valuable part of our marketing strategy, yet given the abundance of channels and the fact that each end user interacts on social differently, it’s been nearly impossible to capture and understand every single brand exposure we know is happening on social”

With Mantii, marketers can:

  • Identify and connect to influencers who share images that relate to their brand;
  • Gain insights into how those influencers interact with these images;
  • Monitor competitors’ initiatives;
  • Inform earned media strategies;
  • Activate influencers’ paid media campaigns;
  • Acquire the rights to user-generated content.

“Current social listening tools mine hashtags, tweets and other signals for marketers, yet there has never been a tool that can analyze the more than 1.8 billion images posted daily on social media channels including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and others,” said Ophir Tanz, Chief Executive Officer, GumGum. “More than 80% of these images lack text that can help marketers find them. With Mantii, we’re using our technology to unlock these valuable insights for marketers.”

At launch, Mantii scans images across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram in real time. The platform automates image collection, photo sentiment and influencer analysis. In addition, Mantii allows brands to connect directly with their influencers and activate social media campaigns.

“Social media listening is a valuable part of our marketing strategy, yet given the abundance of channels and the fact that each end user interacts on social differently, it’s been nearly impossible to capture and understand every single brand exposure we know is happening on social,” said Josh Druding, Manager of Social Strategy, DigitasLBi. “Until Mantii, images posed one of the greatest challenges, especially with the explosion of channels like Instagram. Without a hashtag or direct brand mention, many impressions go unseen. With Mantii, we’re able to analyze and gain insight from the images relevant to brands such as Miller Lite for the very first time, versus simply the comments or tags attached to them.”

In addition to brand logos, Mantii helps marketers scan for and detect all types of objects that could be relevant to their brand’s story, providing a new level of value to any connected image.
