The NIAID Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology (OCICB) will be hosting the 2015 Bioinformatics & Computational Biosciences Festival, Science in 3D.
Despite the fast-growing applications for 3D technologies, they are not widely used in the biosciences at present. The festival will look at several aspects of 3D technologies including modeling, printing, and visualization. Speakers will explore bioprinting, physician and patient education, medical and surgical devices, augmented reality for medicine, and policies surrounding this exploding field. The festival will feature high-level presentations by subject matter experts from government agencies, academia, and the private sector.
The event will be held on January 20-21, 2015, at the NIAID Fishers Lane Conference Center in Rockville, Maryland.
The event will also be available via NIH VideoCast.
In 2014, the NIH 3D Print Exchange was launched to provide an open and interactive website for sharing biomedical 3D print files, modeling tutorials, and educational material. The Science in 3D Festival builds upon this work to expand the use of 3D technology to advance research and medical innovation.
