Contest Underway to Create the Music Video for “What Is Life” from the Newly Released George Harrison Box Set, ‘The Apple Years 1968-75’
Genero.tv has partnered with Olivia and Dhani Harrison to give filmmakers the opportunity to create a new, official music video for one of George Harrison’s most popular songs, “What Is Life.” Accepting entries now, the project has been launched in conjunction with the September 23 release of The Apple Years 1968-75, which collects George’s first six solo albums for the first time in one boxed set.

A grand prize of $5,000 and additional finalist prizes, including George Harrison ‘Apple Years’ box sets, will be awarded for the top five submissions. The winning video will be selected by Olivia and Dhani Harrison and will be shared on George Harrison’s official website, YouTube channel and Facebook page.
“What Is Life” was originally released on George’s three-times platinum album, All Things Must Pass. Released in November 1970, the triple LP topped charts around the world and earned universal acclaim as a rock masterpiece. The album’s second single, “What Is Life” was a Top 10 chart hit in several countries. Featuring Eric Clapton, members of Badfinger, and the powerful brass section of Bobby Keys and Jim Price, “What Is Life” remains one of George’s best loved and most acclaimed songs.
With no official promotional film or video created for “What Is Life” upon its original release, this is a rare and exciting chance to create the official music video for the landmark song. George Harrison’s first six solo albums, Wonderwall Music, Electronic Sound, All Things Must Pass, Living In The Material World, Dark Horse,and Extra Texture (Read All About It), were released between 1968 and 1975 on The Beatles’ Apple Records label. All six albums have been remastered from the original analogue masters for CD and digital release, individually and collected within the deluxe, eight-disc boxed edition, The Apple Years 1968-75.
