The Interactive Institute Swedish ICT worked with the Norrköping City of Sweden to build this interesting touch-responsive tool for urban city planning and visualization. It looks like Microsoft Surface connected to Google Maps and some interesting real-time visualization of things like traffic flow, power utilization, and databases for things like photos and reference imagery.  It’s an impressive tool, and apparently has a partner project that puts these displays in more public places for passing citizens to interact with.
