Tweak Software unleashing RV3.12 at SIGGRAPH2011

Another software announcement leading up SIGGRAPH2011, this time for Tweak Software’s RV image and sequence viewer.  This new version supports Stereo 3D TV’s for stereoscopic review, as well as some nice presentation mode features enabling full-screen playback on one monitor with control on another.  Even better, this new version has support for ARRI Alexa ARRIRAW files and RED RAW files.

“RV has a dual personality. It’s a tool for artists who want refined, elegant way to work with images and it is also a customizable platform for facilities who need to integrate image review with their own tools and pipeline,” said Seth Rosenthal, co-founder of Tweak Software. “This release will have some great artist tools and will expand RV’s customization options with Python and Javascript-based web integration.”

MAXON Unveils CINEMA4D R13

Just in time for SIGGRAPH, MAXON has just released the next generation of their popular CINEMA4D product, adding in stereoscopic workflow enhancements and a great new rendering engine to do physically-accurate rendering with subsurface scattering and more.  Also, it’s the 25th anniversary of this great graphics Company.

“CINEMA 4D R13 is supercharged with numerous productivity enhancements that cater to the multi-collaboration challenges our customers face every day,” Harald Egel states. “Artists interested in expanding their capabilities will love the new character tools. And, of course, the physical renderer with stereoscopic functionality is incredibly important as the new way to deliver immersive entertainment.”

It runs on Mac & PC, and supports up to 256 threads for some great parallel-processing performance.  You can get all the details of the new release after the break.

Daily Viz from Visual Loop – 01/08/2011

Our topic for this week’s infographic selections, compiled from the Visual Loop archives (now with over 13.000 infographics), is Cloud Computing. For the past years, the discussion about migrating to “The Cloud ” has been on the rise, with some vivid arguments considering the advantages and disavantages, especially for the IT departments. So, today we’ll take a look at what is, after all,  Cloud Computing, and why it’s such a big issue, with a help from Wikibon, GigaOm, Mozy and the Horn Group.
