Daily Viz from Visual Loop – 17/03/2011
Looking into the Future of technology is, above all, an exercise of imagination, one that Michell Zappa took on, to produce a great visualization of the next 25 years in Tech. Social media is, of course, one the topics, and Edelman Digital made a nice compilation of the main milestones, from 2002 to the present day. Cloud Computing it’s another growing trend, and it’s being used throughout Social Media sites for quite sometime now, as seen in Imogo‘s infographic. We move on to some astonishing stats about Facebook photos, by Pixable, and from CMO, the best Social Sites for each Marketing desired outcome.
SEAC02′s ARAY augmented reality Xray
Seac02 has a new video up demonstrating some of their own new Augmented Reality technology, this time in viewing automotive interiors interactively.
what about discovering new car interiors using augmented reality, now you can! In the video below we use our Eligo SDK to explore the interior of the car. Realtime object tracking is made using a Dualcore notebook with a standard webcam.
The framerate’s a bit slow, but impressive for nothing but a dualcore notebook.

Augmented Reality Ad Puts You With Angels
Axe’s European brand Lynx deployed a clever augmented reality advertisement in the Victoria railway station, tying into their recent televised commercial about angels falling to earth.
On March 5, the Unilever-owned brand (known as Axe in the U.S.), put signs in the Victoria railway station telling travelers to look up to a giant video screen. On the screen, they saw an image of themselves plus the angels, who are featured in both the English and U.S. ad campaigns. As this video shows, the reactions ranged from surprised to somewhat lewd.
The result is impressive, but I think it’s a bit misleading. Lots of people talk about “interacting with them”, but from the short video clips shown it seems the angels simply repeat the same sequence, no matter what.
Still fun to watch tho.
