Matthias Dittrich has created a Java applet called Narrative 2.0 that visualizes music. He takes the music as an input, then parses it out into channels. Each channel is graphed and shows up as a fan-like arrangement. The angle of each fan-line changes with the frequency. When the frequency reaches a high level, he colors it orange. While this work is from a couple of years ago, I still find it fascinating.

The visualisation should not necessarily return exact informations, even if the arrangement and uniformity of the music can be read. The purpose was to create even more an aesthetically responding visualisation with the music as an artist.
