As one of Google’s “April’s Fools Pranks”, they’ve enabled Anaglyphics Red-Cyan stereo on Google Street View. Simply load up street view as you normally would, and you’ll see a new icon there to enable it.
In reality, it looks like they’re just duplicating and shifting the existing image a bit, it doesn’t really add much depth. Also, they leave the existing colors in the image with can create some distracting effects. But it’s a fun little trick, and worth playing with if you have some anaglyphic glasses lying around.

Shows how much you know. Google actually has rough depth mapping. Thats how why you see angled polygons that are perpendicular to the buildings when you mouse over (granted it is only rough). They use this and use simple horizontal seperation for left and right eye. Thats how they make the anaglyph and thats why although its not great you get a reasonable degree of accuracy and stereo depth
Hallo. I make already for 30 years now stereo 3D pictures.
Now with two digital camera’s parallel and use a computerprogram to make anaglyphen. Streetvieuw isnot real 3D!
You need two camera’s for a convergention angle. LOL

Oh please. “it doesn’t really add much depth” ? It’s pretty good for en-masse 3D. They didn’t process each one you know…
