Is Higher Learning Higher Earning

Rasmussen College has created an interactive infographic showing the median earnings by education degree, or lack of one. It is no surprise that the higher the level of education, the higher the level of earning. In terms of a gap though, this infographic does not show it clearly, however true it may be. In 1991, a high school diploma on average earned 62% what a Bachelor’s degree earned. By 2008, that ratio fell to 56%. When you combine this knowledge with the graph earlier showing that college degrees have lower unemployment, it sure makes sense to get that Bachelor’s degree.

We took a look at the median earnings by education level for each gender, and in the interactive graphic below you can click on the years on the left to compare the data from 1991, 2000 and 2008.
