JPR’s own Jon Peddie has gathered up an impressive list of industry experts and compiled a 16-page book of predictions for the graphics industry in 2010.

We asked some of the most visionary people in the industry to share their views with us and give us a glimpse of what they see coming. We were surprised by the responses, and sadly couldn’t include them all. Here then are the ones we liked best. As you might expect, each contributor tended to see the world in his or her own terms but these people are all very engaged in their industries as well. Taken together, the things that they see as important—really are important because these people and the people who work for them and with them are helping to make these ideas a reality.

Some predictions to get you started:

  • Tablets
  • More GPGPU
  • 3d Televisions
  • Cameras stop adding Pixels, start adding Bit Depth
  • Augmented Reality

And much much more (And, frankly, a lot of non-graphics related predictions like Social Media and cybersecurity).  The entire document is available for download as a Zip’ed PDF.

That picture, to the right, is included throughout the document.  If you’re wondering what it is, it’s finally described on the last page:

With special thanks to the work of Frank Stella. We have used photos of his sculpture displayed on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, fall 2009, in New York to illustrate the entangled ideas of new technology.
