An enterprising hardware hacker combined the guts of a PC keyboard with a Gyration Mouse, a plastic toy gun, and a small LCD screen into his “GameGun”.  The result is a motion-tracked gaming peripheral that emulates mouse & keyboard, making it compatible with pretty much any game on the market.  And now it’s available for preorder.

Introducing the most innovative gaming peripheral around “THE GAME GUN “. The Game Gun will allow you to experience gaming in a whole new way. The Game Gun is compatible with most gaming devices. This game controller will actually make you feel like you are inside the game bringing the reality to you. The Game Gun offers full gyro tracking, speakers, active TFT display and is completely wireless. Be the first to experience this innovative new gaming device and be the envy of all your friends.

It’s available for only $250, pretty reasonable given what’s inside.  Delivery is in Q1 2010, and the next version he claims will integrate a trio of micro-projectors, eliminating the LCD screen and projecting a 12-foot screen directly in front of you.  While that seems, in my mind, less appealing than the screen (Who’s got a circular white-room to play in?), it’s fascinating to think of.

See demonstration videos of his early prototypes after the break.

Wonder how long until this winds up in a C6 Cave somewhere.
