When creating 3D content in this mannor the camera system and operator must film a scene as closly as posabe to how we would "see" it in real life from "proper perspective" with objects of intrest in the proper focal plane and other objects in soft focus , if this is not done the eyes will hunt the unnatural focal plane and this causes visual stress the next advance for 3D will be the increase in the native framerate 3D content is shown, going from 24 fps to much higher rate of 48 fps to 60 fps this will greatly improve judder and make movement very smooth and fluid which is very important for the 3D format James Cameron has campained for higher frame rate and hopefuly avatar 2 and future 3D films will use it. I beleve avater though a fantasy film touches on very serious world issues symbolicly and has given many real people a voice where they had none before the Dongria Kondh tribe in India and many others are all very "real" examples of this.

Avater is one of the few films I will rember for the rest of my life , most people have no idea the amount of time and effort that went into creating the films groundbreaking visual effects, the technoligy and plain hard work it took to script the film for perspective correct 3D. It doesn't matter if you liked the story itself, just from a visual perspective it's an amazing thing even in 2D. But the 3D was something else. It actually floated off the screen several times. And best of all no cheap cardboard blue and red cellophane that never lets you see good enough. These are like good cheap plastic sunglasses with a light gray tinted lens and not uncomfortable at all. Plus you just see 10 ties better than with the old kind. And for the first time the whole movie was 3D, not just a couple of scenes where something shoots out for a second or three. It reminded me of the depth perception I used to see in the old View Masters and stereographic viewers made 50 and 100 years ago. The camera system they used for Avatar is absolutely next generation now. I was amazed that the animation is done in real time as they film the actors, no make up, or costumes, it's all applied, the face and body change, by the computers in real time, in 3D and 2D at the same time. I can hardly wait to see what they do with it, how far they push it in one direction and then another. The amazing his we will get to see. For the first time I think it is now possible to make any book or story into a movie. You can recreate all the ancient civilizations, big as you want, and any other one no matter where or when, that you can imagine. Because imagination is now truly the only limit, well and funding.

I’m watching the 3rd DVD release at the moment, I saw the original in 3D or should I say Real 3D, that’s what it was noted as in the film.
