FOCUSSES ON FUTURE OF IMAGING AND GRAPHICS

London, 9th September 2009 – The future of pixels, pipelines and productivity will be high on the agenda at CVMP, the 6th European Conference on Visual Media Production (www.cvmp-conference.org), taking place on 12th and 13th November 2009 at the BFI Southbank, London.

Now in its sixth year, this unique event brings together practitioners in media production from the film, broadcast and games industries with leading academics and researchers in imaging and graphics.

The two-day conference will provide a dynamic forum for the exchange of knowledge between researchers, media industry specialists and entertainment content creators working at the cutting-edge of visual media production.

The two central themes of this year’s conference are Capturing 3D Worlds and Advanced Technology in Post Production, and will explore pioneering research and techniques that have fundamental implications for the future of 2D, 3D and CG imaging and graphics production.

The conference organisers have secured submissions and presenters from academia and the post production industry to make CVMP 2009 a truly exciting meeting of minds like no other.  The line up of speakers includes:

Sergi Sagas Rica from Mediapro

Former Technical Director at both Disney and Sony Pictures Imageworks, Sergi led teams to achieve two Oscars® and a Sci-Tech Award®.

Neil Marsden from Hibert Ralph Animation

Head of Technology, Neil, has been in the animation industry for over ten years providing technical support for numerous commercials and television series including Fireman Sam for HIT Entertainment.

Aaron Allport from Blitz Games Studios

Aaron is Studio Art Director at Blitz – one of the UK’s top independent game developers.  He was instrumental in developing a pipeline to cope with the content required by the Xbox360 and PS3.

Keynote sessions: from Peter Hillman, Senior 2d Developer at Weta Digital (The Day The Earth Stood Still, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, King Kong, The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Professor Marc Pollefeys from ETHZ and Dr Toni Mateos of Barcelona Media guarantee interesting discussion.

The line up also includes Dirk Callaerts from Eyetronics, Jules Cocke from Squint Opera, Chris Steel from Effectivus, with additional speakers to be confirmed soon.
