Andrew Averkin is no stranger to 3D modeling, with VizWorld having already covered his amazing Mechanical Spider graphic. Andrew was kind enough to send us his latest image “Dreams of Street Cat”, along with some behind-the-scenes on how it was made.
Read his entire story after the break.
What follows is Andrew’s Tutorial. As english is not his native language, I’ve clarified it a bit but it remains his text.
Hi VizWorld and hi to all!
Recently I finished my new work, named “The Dreams Of Street Cat” and I want to show you how I did a fur for a cat in 3ds Max.
So, let’s start with the hair.
Start 3ds Max and create a simple sphere with a radius of 300mm or 0.3m, whichever you prefer.
Select a sphere and select “Hair and Fur” from the modify menu and then click Render button.
Fur doesn’t look realistic, but we will work on it. First, we need light. Let’s create a three point system of lighting with “Target Spot” lights of the following parameters, and render the image again.
Hello Randall Hand,
Thanks for posting the tutorial, it was really fantastic.
