Sharp to increase color range of LCDs
Sharp has created a new LCD technology that aims to more accurately reproduce colorspaces via a 5-color system, eschewing the traditional 3-color system. At 60.5 inches and 1920×1080 resolution, each pixel not only has Red, Green, and Blue, but an extra Cyan and Yellow. This allows it to reproduce 99% of Pointer Colorspace, making it the closest of any LCD on the market.
While the technology isn’t for sale yet, the prototype will be demonstrated at the Society for Information Display conference in San Antonio, Texas this week.
