PCGames Hardware (German) has an interview with Sascha Marenkowic of AMD, during which they mention the upcoming release of a Radeon HD 4890 X2.
The current HD4890 pushes the limits of powerdraw, so an X2 would require two 8-pin connectors, and if the 4870X2 is any indication, it will be over $600. This begs the question of what would be the better purchase: a 4890X2? or two 4890′s in Crossfire?
Interview after the break (it starts in Dutch, but quickly transitions into english).

Yuri Sakovich has a new tutorial online at CGArena about a new model made using Zbrush.
Modeling was very simple. I based my model off the original sketch and created what is known as an organized mesh. Meaning, that the topology of the model is in accordance to the muscle structure. Once that was done, I made sure to set the scale to my liking and imported into ZBrush to check it.
The ALCF’s ability to visualize such enormous quantities of data is made possible by of the world’s largest graphics processing units (GPU). Nicknamed Eureka, this installation of NVIDIA Quadro Plex S4 external GPUs allows researchers to better understand the data they produce with Intrepid at the ALCF. The powerful installation provides more than 111 teraflops and more than 3.2 terabytes of RAM.
Eureka has some interesting hardware features including a special configuration of Quadro Plex S4′s, a nine-switch 2048-connection network interconnected, and a special bank of 10,000 disk drives all packed into 4 racks.
FiringSquad reviews the latest Radeon from Sapphire, the Radeon 4870 Vapor-X. Currently available in both a 512MB and 1GB version, with a low price point of $200, it’s an attractive offering to people looking to upgrade on the cheap. But is it worth it?
Sapphire’s Radeon 4870 Vapor-X doesn’t perform as fast as the Toxic, nor does its cooler run as cool, but the Vapor-X card sports a distinctive look that we actually prefer over the Toxic Edition, and with a little bit of overclocking, the card can be clocked to run just as high if not higher than the 4870 Toxic.

The CAD Society has named Richard “Dick” Sowar as its 2009 CAD Society Lifetime Achievement Award winner, for his pioneering research in computer graphics and CAD design.
He founded Spatial in 1986, and, with the shared vision with the ACIS development team in the UK and the developers at Spatial s Boulder, CO location, proceeded to change the market. After the sale of the ACIS business to Dassault Systemes in 2000, Dick co-founded 2 additional companies – Geomenon, and then FreeDesign, – the latter of which has developed a novel and innovative approach to 3D modeling using curve-based design built on the company’s patented N-sided surface technology.
