It seems that Tokyo will be the first city to risk a major deployment of E-paper signage, in the hopes of using a wireless network to remotely update the signs in the event of an emergency.  Currently, only two have been deployed:

  • One in the lobby of the post office, Measure over 3 meters across and 240×768 resolution. 24W Power
  • Another at the Higashi-Ikebukuro bus stop, 60×40 centimeters with 144×96 resolution. 9W power

The signs use a relatively simply 4mm pixel, and are expected to be online until January 29th.
